Many different types of waste are generated on campus. Some of this waste is considered hazardous due to its potential to harm people or the environment.
Hazardous waste includes chemical, radiological and biomedical waste. The Environmental Affairs Section is responsible for managing the disposal of all hazardous and otherwise regulated waste on campus. Generators of these wastes are responsible for the proper collection, handling, labeling and storage of these wastes in their work areas.
Yale EHS has written procedures that address most waste issues. A small portion of these procedures are listed in the resources section below. You will find a complete listing of all policies and procedures, forms and tools, trainings, and emergency protocols by reviewing those individual sections.
If you have any questions regarding the handling or disposal of a hazardous or regulated waste please call 432-6545 for assistance.
