Although we are in different departments, the Yale Office of the Fire Marshal has grown in partnership with EHS and is seen as a true extension of our own office, especially when it comes to onsite emergency response. This partnership has never paid more dividends than with after-hours responses such as in early January 2025 when a potential high-risk emergency was reported from a West Campus lab. Through the two Fire Marshal representatives who were the first responders on the scene, and in coordination with Yale EHS professionals both on-call and onsite, EHS was able to quickly gather information and lower the risk of the event. This office has made a commitment and partnership with EHS, particularly with representation and cross-training with our Emergency Response Team, where it provides a layer of complimentary expertise that helps bolster our response capabilities. The Office of the Yale Fire Marshall never takes a break from their 24/7/365 commitment to the University.
