Organolithium Compounds Training
This training provides an overview of the basic safety practices required when working with organolithium compounds. It includes a review of the hazards associated with these pyrophoric compounds, the facility and the personal protective equipment requirements for working with organolithium compounds and the appropriate procedures for setting up the reaction apparatus and transferring organolithium compounds to this apparatus. This training is intended to supplement the specific hands-on training from the Principal Investigator and/or Senior Researcher in the laboratory. It is expected that anyone who will be working with organolithium compounds will review this web-based training course as part of their overall training and demonstrate competency to their PI before being allowed to handle organolithium compounds without direct supervision.
