X-Ray Safety: Part I

Part I of training to use X-ray generating equipment. Trainees will learn basic information concerning x-ray generation, exposure limits, health hazards of x-rays, common causes of accidents and Yale’s ALARA program. Also covered in the class are machine interlocks, safety lights and indications, regulations and requirements for structural shielding. The training will explore basic x-ray characteristics and proper operating conditions. Trainees will learn how to protect themselves and others around them, dosimetry requirements and proper use of equipment.

Part II training will be provided by the x-ray equipment manager. Complete the X-Ray Training Sign Off Sheet with the x-ray equipment manager and return it to Environmental Health and Safety to receive full credit for this course.
