Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC)

Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans are required when a facility could reasonably be expected to discharge harmful quantities of oil to navigable waters and has more than 1,320 gallons of oil above ground or 42,000 gallons underground. Oils include animal and vegetable oil, synthetic and mineral oil, as well as petroleum oils such as gasoline, diesel or fuel oil. Any oil in storage or use in equipment of at least 55 gallons is regulated by these requirements.
