Working in Occupied Buildings

Renovation and construction activities in an occupied building can introduce a variety of potential environmental, health and safety concerns that were not present prior to these activities. These may be due to disruption of materials within the building, operations performed by contractors or by materials brought into the area for the work. It is critical that these issues be identified and appropriately controlled prior to the start of work. In addition, Project Management and Construction has established an Occupant Notification Procedure to ensure that those affected by the work are aware of upcoming activities through pre-construction meetings, project look-aheads, postings and other notices.
