Environmental Health and Safety provides Yale personnel with the guidance necessary to safely de-energize machinery or equipment and prevent the release of potentially hazardous energy while performing maintenance or servicing activities. These procedures are not required if there is no risk of injury from the activity or risk of exposure to an energy source. They are also not required for activities performed on electrical equipment connected by cords or plugs in full control of the individual performing the work.
