Ticks are most prevalent in the warmer months and in wooded areas and fields. It is important to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants and use a safe tick repellent on your skin or clothes when in these areas. Perform daily tick checks on yourself, your family and your pets after being in these areas. To remove a tick, grasp it near its mouth with tweezers as close to your skin as possible and gently pull in a steady, upward motion. Wash the area with and use a disinfectant on the area.
