New Principal Investigators (PIs) and Lab Managers

Welcome to Yale University! Environmental Health and Safety is pleased to partner with you to help ensure your lab is safe and compliant with all state and federal regulatory requirements. We have developed an online system, EHS Integrator, to make it easy for you to update your lab and assistant data, respond to survey findings, request waste pickups and more.

Every building on campus is assigned an EHS safety advisor, safety professionals who can help answer safety-related questions, help get your lab started from a safety and compliance standpoint and provide you with all applicable registrations and trainings you may need. Find the safety advisor assigned to your building.

Please review the PI Welcome Letter to learn about the four “Initial Steps to Safety” to help you get your research approved and in action as quickly as feasible.

EHS has consolidated our existing help information for PIs and lab managers into a coordinated set of pages. The pages have been designed to provide relevant information, documents, and links to help with a laboratory’s start-up requirements. This web section has been designed to help PIs (and lab managers) get started with their EHS requirements and assist with the completion of their many safety-related responsibilities. Each section within EHS has created specific start-up information. If you have any questions after reviewing those sections pertinent to your research, please contact your assigned safety advisor, or call EHS at 203-785-3550. Thank you for choosing Yale University to conduct laboratory research. EHS looks forward to helping labs navigate their range of applicable regulatory requirements. Please select the relevant EHS section fromthe menu to get started.
