Personal protective equipment (PPE) is used to create a protective barrier between a worker and hazards in the workplace and must be used when the eyes, face, hands, extremities or other parts of the body are exposed to workplace hazards that cannot be controlled by other means. Appropriate personal attire and PPE will vary depending on the hazards present and the activities being performed.
Yale University’s PPE Program is designed to protect employees and students from exposure to workplace hazards and to facilitate University compliance with state and federal safety-related regulatory requirements.
PPE includes equipment such as:
- Gloves
- Safety shoes
- Hard hats
