New Haven’s Department of Transportation, Traffic and Parking has added a “contra” bicycle lane on High Street from Elm Street to Crown Street, making it legal for cyclists to ride against traffic in a marked lane. Click here to read the New Haven Register’s article on the new bicycle lane.
With the introduction of this new riding lane, it is important for pedestrians to remember to look both ways before stepping off the curb to cross as now you will need to watch for vehicles going in one direction and cyclists going in the other direction.
