2024: Dr. Peter Tattersall

Dr. Tattersall was an inaugural member of the Yale Human Gene Transfer Subcommittee, started in 1996 to review Yale’s first ever human gene transfer protocols and has remained on the Committee for the last 29 years, never wavering in his commitment to assist Yale University. Dr. Tattersall is also a voting member of the Yale Biological Safety Committee where his virology expertise has helped non-virologists understand the risks involved of experiments with viral human pathogens and recombinant DNA experiments with defective viral vectors. He worked with Drs. Richard Sutton and Diane Krause to revamp the Yale Human Gene Transfer Subcommittee review process, which has greatly expedited the time it takes from submission to Committee approval. Recently, Dr. Tattersall demonstrated his dedication to laboratory safety by using his own funding to purchase a new centrifuge with all of the required biocontainment accessories to assist two PIs in complying with Yale Biological Safety Committee requirements.
