Certain research materials are restricted from transfer into the United States and importation permits must be obtained prior to the sender shipping these items. Additionally, some materials may require an interstate transport permit for movement throughout the United States. Multiple U.S. regulatory agencies hold authority for granting these permits. The import permit, together with the appropriate packaging and labeling, will expedite the clearance of the package through the U.S. Public Health Service Division of Quarantine and release by U.S. Customs.  Before requesting to have any biological material shipped to you, obtain any required import or transport permits and ensure that you have current Yale Biological Safety Committee approval to work with the material.

Please review the CDC Import Permit Reminders.
