EHS Executive Director Kevin Charbonneau was honored with an Ivy Award at the 2026 Seton Elm-Ivy Awards on April 8th for his work in the community, primarily through the Committee on Programs for Children and Youth. The awards, bestowed annually, honor outstanding efforts by individuals, organizations, or programs to enhance the lives of Elm City residents and strengthen the partnership between Yale and its host city. Elm Awards recognize individuals from the broader New Haven community; the Ivy Awards recognize Yale staff members, faculty, or students.
President Maurie McInnis and Mayor Justin Elicker presented the award to Kevin.
This award also recognized EHS’s work through its internship programs and relationships with the New Haven Promise Program, New Haven Works, and students from New Haven Academy as the award states “Kevin’s ability to foster strong relationships across a complex university ensures that Yale’s scientific resources are not locked behind gates but are accessible to its neighbors.”
While Kevin is humbled to receive this award, he wanted to make clear this was not achieved alone.
“Even though I receive this award, this is really a reflection of the entire office and I would not have received this if not for the people who put in so much work on these programs and with these students,” he said. “I don’t see this as a Kevin award. I see this as an EHS award.”
