Audience: Principal Investigators, Assistants, and Laboratory Contacts
This year, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) launched a new “Laboratory Safety Program” in Workday Learning. To ensure everyone is informed about the latest safety procedures, policies, and emergency protocols, EHS alongside the Laboratory Safety Committee has instituted the following requirements:
- All laboratory personnel must complete the new “Laboratory Safety Program” in Workday Learning. If you have completed the “Laboratory Safety Program” training after January 30, 2025, you do not need to retake it until the three-year refresher course mentioned below.
- All laboratory personnel must complete a refresher course of this training every three years.
Visit your Workday Learning Profile and check “My Learning Assignments” to see any updates to your training requirements.
This program provides a comprehensive overview covering:
- updated information on previously covered topics.
- engineering controls, compressed gases, cryogens, physical, and electrical safety.
- ergonomics and emergency preparedness.
- relevant policies, including Yale’s “Working Alone in Laboratories” policy.
We understand that completing this training takes valuable time, but it is essential for maintaining safety and compliance in our laboratories. Please complete this program at your earliest convenience.
Please note: If you have recently started taking this training, but have not yet finished, you may need to restart the course from the beginning to receive credit due to a recent course update. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
